2017 + First Quarter Goals

First Quarter Goals

Like most people, I tend to list down ‘resolutions’ or ‘goals’ every start of the year. And like most people, sometimes I go overboard and write down a bunch of things that just wouldn’t be all accomplished within a year. Or things that are far too vague that I have no idea how it would be considered ‘accomplished’. So for the past few days of 2017, I listed and re-listed my goals, getting them down to a pretty manageable and realistic count. I’m pretty happy with the end result and am excited to work on them for this year.

2017, I’m ready for you and here are the list of things that I want to tackle on:

Personal

  1. Reach my financial goal for this year. Which is basically all the money I spent travelling last year and then some.
  2. Lose the freaking extra weight. ‘nuff said.
  3. Finally learn how to drive. It’s not fun having to ask my younger cousin, grandpa or mom to drive me. I’m finally learning it this year.
  4. Travel to two countries. Trying to cut down a bit. I already have Taiwan booked and maybe one more for my 22nd birthday!
  5. Read 100 books again. I want to do this every year. I finished 102 last year, so I’m hoping to read more.
  6. Learn something new. Options include Photoshop, JAVA, SAP, video editing, photography, and cooking.
  7. Have some kind of idea on what life would be like for the next five years. Because honestly? I’m just going with the flow right now. I want to have a solid foundation on the next years would be as I think those are very critical years.

Blog

  1. Rebrand a bit. Nothing too big. Just mostly editing my about me, sidebars, photos used. A little editing on my theme.
  2. Just stick to using my own photos. Saying no to stock photos this year. More on focusing on editing my own.
  3. Post updates more consistently. Aiming for at least once a week!
  4. Start making VLOGs. To have more content and to practice my English diction, at least.

I’ll also be cutting down my goals into small, manageable ones for each quarter of the year. It’s so I can’t use the ‘there’s always next month’ excuse since I have a timeframe. Here are the goals I’ll be working for this January to March.

First Quarter Goals

  1. Lose some pounds. My best gal and I are doing a biggest loser challenge and the loser has to pay for the other’s hotel stay for our Taiwan trip. Ha ha ha no.
  2. Apply for government IDs (especially Student’s License and SSS ID). I suck at being an adult since the only government ID I have is my passport.
  3. Open up an emergency fund account. A separate account that will never be touched unless there’s an actual emergency.
  4. Read 30 books and watch 5 movies. To keep learning and growing through words and moving pictures.
  5. Finish up my Singapore and Hong Kong photobooks. …because my coupons are expiring.
  6. Start and finish up my Korea backlogs. Trying to finish this before my Taiwan trip! So. Much. Backlogs.
  7. Edit old blog posts. Mostly the photos and will be deleting posts that doesn’t fit in my blog.

That’s it for this year/quarter! It may seem like a lot, but I have already cut out so much from my original list; that was around 10+. Fun fact: I’m the kind of person who always have to be doing something. I always have to have things in my to-do list that I can tick off so these would keep me pretty busy along with my 8-to-6 job.

What are your main goals for this year?

xoxo, Richel V.

“Apply for Govt. IDs” Same coz I keep forgetting to apply for an SSS ID. Kaloka noh ahaha I’ve been out of college for almost 4 years now pero ano na. And always talaga yung travel as a yearly goal. Life goal, actually. And who can forget the weight goals forever, haha

    My goals for 2017:
    – Learn Japanese. Like more than what I know, so I can return in 2018. Plus better career opportunities, di ba?
    – Make more art. I tried this for the past two years but I wasn’t exactly productive in that department.
    – Save! Just, IDK, do the 52 week challenge and not spend so much on what I don’t need.

I kept putting it off until my work schedule makes it so that I can’t apply unless I take a day off. Hahaha.

Do you learn Japanese by yourself? It definitely offers more career opportunities. Thinking of learning that or French too, but too busy rn.

The 52 week challenge seems unrealistic for me to do but good luck if you ever try that! 🙂

I learned some Japanese by myself last year before I left, but here’s hoping I can go to a school to receive proper training. Walang too busy for me lol, I just really want to learn the language.

The 52 Week Challenge looks like torture lol but hopefully I manage haha.

Wow! You’re goal is freaking organize. Hahaha! Nainspired ako, I’ll probably do a fix goal this year aswell and let’s see if I could really do it all. lol!

how do you save for your financial goal? Do you have an exact amount to save every month or you just put your extra money on your savings? I’m actually still learning how to keep my kita in my business. lol! I should have taken business management before. yikes!

Finish backlogs! Goodluck! I’m really trying my hard to finish mine but ideas and words just won’t come out in my head. lol!

Kaya yan! Tiwala at hardwork lang haha. Good luck sa goals mo for this year! 🙂

In 2015 (kasi wala akong nasave ng 2016, lol), I kept putting 2500 straight to my savings with every payday + I never touched a cent from my bonuses. This year, I’m really working on my savings so I remove my necessities from my salary first (monthly expense, bills) then remove another 1K for my “fun fund” and another 1k for my “emergency fund” AND another 2k for my “travel fund” then the rest goes to savings + investments! Hahaha. Ang haba. I got too lazy to make a financial blog lol.

I’m working on my Korea backlog now, habang may words pa ako! 😀

Ahh, so nauuna yung pag miminus mo sa salary mo then keep what’s left. I usually do kasi, I keep an exact amount everyday and save it until I visit the bank to deposit. The hard part in my case, I can’t control myself from buying stuff I don’t need pag alam kong I have cash. lol!

I’m trying to do my Japan naman kaso, OMG, I think I forgot what happened in there already. hahahaha!

Just do visual diaries! Babalik din yan sa memory mo! Lol.

It’s great how you’ve turned your goals into much more achievable one every quarter. Perhaps I should do the same too! I’ve listed a lot of goals when this year started that it kind of overwhelmed me, so where am I now? I’m lost. But I’m trying to get back on track. I’m glad I visited your blog and saw this. Good luck on your goals! My three main goals right now is to lessen my soda intake, get my diploma and pass the CPA board (I’ll count this two as one), and have my first ever job.

This is so organized! Good luck on your goals, Richel! I know that you’ll be able to achieve everything.

My three main goals for this year are:

    1. Be debt-free and start saving more.
    2. Focus more and get serious with blogging. Still trying to be consistent in posting once a week. Also, this year, I want to meet more bloggers and engage with them more. Sometimes I get too shy that I don’t leave comments on their blog. But, I’m trying to change that now.
    3. Lastly, gain weight. This has been my goal ever since. I hope by the end of the year, I won’t be underweight anymore.

My three main goals (well, not main but up there):
    1. To write more daily. Making sure I at least have a sentence up at the end of the day (I started up a journal log for this.)
    2. Learn photography.
    3. Read 50 books 🙂

Yay for realistic and achievable goals! I’m sure you will do great and hopefully will achieve all of these. Also, I love your idea of setting quarter goals, it really should help you focus more on them. My top three goals for the year would be:
    1. Learn how to drive. I’ve been postponing it for way too long.
    2. Save some money because I’m so broke right now, it’s not even funny anymore.
    3. Visit at least 2 new places. I have a serious wanderlust and my bank balance isn’t a fan of it, haha.

I love setting goals, because I see what’s in store for me for the next months. But I started setting big goals instead of the many small ones. This year I am focused on doing just one big goal which is settling down. And of course small goals come along with that so I think it’s a win-win situation for me. Haha.

Your goals are pretty much achievable for the Q1! For your IDs, I suggest you get UMID instead 🙂 I have no plans of getting one, coz I don’t really care about IDs that much haha but I’m forced to get one since my only valid IDs (Voters and TIN) are not considered primary IDs. Just take note that UMIDs can take really long before you can claim it.

I also want to go back to reading books this year, I wanted to read 1 each month, but I don’t think I can do that. Maybe the number won’t count anymore, as long as I get back to reading, right? Hehe

I’m also excited to your blog’s rebranding! I also did some quick changes with my blog lately, just to keep me more motivated with blogging hehe and yes, looking forward to your travels and vlogs! 🙂 I am slowing down with travel this year because I want to save for my goal of settling down hehe

My main goals for this year is to save up and lose weight. The others are just secondary. Haha.

I’m only going to need IDs since even my company ID has no birthdate and that’s required. Huhu. I think it takes like three months or so to get the UMIDs? Hassle, lol.

Yes! Just go back to reading! I just really get into moods that I read non-stop once I started, thus the big goal.

Still trying to get over people staring at me in public when I do my VLOGs. Because when I did it in Megamall the last time, I feel weirded out with the stares. Haha!

My 3 main goals for this year are the following:

    1. Best thesis – Having this goal pushes me to work hard on it. If my partner and I couldn’t achieve it, at least we did our best. Although, I’m hoping especially I received the best product presentation last year in my Marketing requirement. 🙂
    2. Be active in the blogosphere and blogging community.
    3. And have an active life as a form of self-love like exercising, lessen or eliminate my intake of fast food this year for good and pursue more of my passions and get to know more of the hidden talents. Hehe! 🙂

I like the ‘loser’ challenge, Ate Richel. It’s really motivating and fun at the same time. Hahaha! 😀 Happy new year! 🙂

Good luck on working towards the best thesis!! That would be a huge pay-off for your hard work. I’m trying my luck at self-love this year. Already removed soda from my diet, and I just have to incorporate more exercise and limit my fast food intake, as well!

It was a fun challenge and gave me that extra push to be more motivated! It also works best since we can be each other’s support system.

Good luck on your goals, Augustin! 😀
