Have you ever been in one of those moods where one day, you’re cool as a daisy, and the next you’re stressed about everything and nothing at the same time? Maybe it’s because I’m experiencing quarter-life crisis, too. Since the start of the year, I’ve been planning a staycation to relax and just chill and not have to do chores. At the same time, my high school best friends and I are planning to have a
summer outing. Knowing how hard it is to do an out of town trip that actually happens, I suggested we just do a staycation. They agreed.
It was Thursday, May 4 when we decided we’re a go on a staycation that weekend. Imagine that. Only two days left! A lot of the AirBNB apartments I was eyeing were already booked on that date, but I managed to land Rupert’s apartment. It was a two-level unit located in Fort Victoria, BGC, Taguig City. Two levels! Yey! It won’t be stuffy at all. It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, fully functioning kitchen, free Netflix, wi-fi, and a swimming pool. What more could I ask for? The price was a bit up there, but for the space and location, it was so worth it.
We arrived around 3:20 PM. Our host met us in the lobby and chatted us up while he went with us to the elevator and to the unit. He gave us a quick tour of the place and explained that he was just right next door.
Guys, if I ever end up being moderately rich in this lifetime, this is how I would like my place to look like. Or at least, this size in this layout in this kind of location. You can see more of what the apartment looks like in here. Below are some glimpses of it.
First order of business was to… eat. We go down to the lobby where we spotted a Family Mart and grabbed some snacks. We also bought fresh milk for the carbonara best friend #1 was making.
As soon as we got back up, BFF#1 started making carbonara (insert heart eye emoji) and I went and played Mr. and Mrs. Smith on Netflix. Because our plan for this whole staycation is to Netflix and eat, I also ordered us two boxers of pizza and chicken.
It was around 6 PM when the carbonara was cooked and the pizza has arrived. We have our first official pig-out of the night. BFF#1 went up to sleep shortly after since she came from a graveyard shift of work from Friday. BFF#2 and I went on to start binge-watching 13 Reasons Why. We also got our second serving of carbonara around Tape 3.
By 1 AM, I was kind of out of it. I said goodnight to BFF#2 and went up to the other unoccupied room. It took me another half hour to fell asleep, since I was too busy staring at the skylines, enjoying the really comfy bed and the silence. I love that the friendships I have now doesn’t require much talking. We still haven’t really got caught up with each other – just ate, and watched TV side by side and we’ve been here for around 10 hours now.
I suddenly found myself awake around 4AM. I went downstairs and BFF#2 is still watching 13RW. It’s almost Clay’s tape. We didn’t talk. I was half-watching, half-using my laptop to leech off the fast internet and download movies. We didn’t talk until the series ended. Then we did. We talked about not-pretty things, about sad things in high school, in college, and everywhere else. We talked as the sun rises up and we watch it through the wide windows behind us.
By 5AM, we figured out BFF#1 is already up and we annoyed her to come down. Here’s where we talked to each other. BFF#1 reheated carbonara from last night – it was one of the best I’ve eaten – and fried the remaining bacon from the carbonara. We didn’t even go to the swimming pool anymore. We were just lazing in the couch, endless food on our lap, and chattered about what’s up lately. This is very nice. I love these girls.
Our check-out was by 11AM, and I didn’t want to leave. This was a good break from the “real world”, but I know I have to go. I left the keys in the cable and we all said goodbye to our first staycation. This won’t be our last.
