Life Lately: Where Have I Been?

Where Have I Been; Richel Goes Places

It’s been a little over a month since my last blog post entry and I swear, I’m not in a ditch somewhere as proof of this post. As I’m typing this, it’s 6:18 AM on a Sunday and I’m in bed, thinking about things. I’m thinking about the plans I have with my family later. I’m especially thinking about eating at Frankie’s when we’re in SM Aura because, I swear, they have the best chicken wings ever. Ever.

I’ve been suddenly out of the blogging world for a whole month and that’s crazy for me. I had a calendar all set up on what my posts would be then suddenly, I had no time and motivation to work on my blog. Like, poof, it’s gone. Which is ironic since I’m winning contests and being recommended in my work lately because of my ~writing skills~ and my colleagues always bring out that it’s because I’m a blogger, LOL. I’m still not in the usual mood I am when writing out blog posts but I’m forcing this one out to get the groove moving again. And I also missed reading other people’s blog like crazy.

So what kept me occupied while I was out in the real world? Let me count thy ways.

My Korean VISA has been approved.

This has been a source of stress for me lately, and I’ve been trying real hard not to get my hopes up for my October trip in case my VISA gets denied. But… it’s done! I’m sure to go to Seoul this Autumn! Irish and I got our VISA now; I’m hopeful for the rest of my travel buddies.

Pokémon Go has me going loco.

In which all the weekends since Pokémon Go has been released in the Philippines, I at least spend one of those days out to catch Pokémon. No kidding. I’m actually going out again today, lol. I’ve been poke-hunting with my brothers, aunts, AND uncles. My brother even agreed to be included in Ayala Malls’ promotional video about the Pokemon Go craze. He’s loco, as well. And I deny being related to him. Hah! Also, #TeamMystic!

I’m in a reading frenzy; read over 50 books since July.

When the reading bug bits me, it stays for a long while. I’m finishing 1-2 books A DAY for the last two months. It started by me just wanting to catch up on my Goodreads reading challenge of reading 100 books for a year, but now I can’t stop. Send help. I’m losing sleep like crazy. I’m waiting for my reading frenzy to slow down, so I can focus back on my blog. He he.

P!ATD and The 1975 are amazingly insane live.

I just attended my first music festival of the year: In the Mix! I have two things to scream about: Panic! At The Disco and The 1975. Brendon’s vocal range is so impressive, I want to cry. And the light works on the The 1975’s set is superb. It’s my third time to see them live, but I’ll never stop dancing along to their songs. I’ll make a blog post about this later. Hopefully. *crosses fingers*

I’m launching a personal finance blog.

This is something I’ve been wanting to do since forever. I finally decided on a name and I already have a few drafts up for its post. There’s a 80% chance I’ll do this under a pseudonym though. I’m excited for this project! Good thing tomorrow is a holiday. I have time to wrap it up and launch it.

Birthday & blog anniversary + giveaway coming right up.

I don’t think I have mentioned it but I launched my blog on my 20th birthday. I can’t believe it’s almost a year and that I met so many wonderful people through my blog. As a small thanks, I’m hosting a small giveaway soon! By soon, hopefully, it meant before my actual birthday which is a little over a week away.

Okay, it’s now 6:54 AM. Time to have breakfast. Hopefully I’ll be able to edit a featured photo and have this post up today. Ciao, darlings!

What have you been up to lately?

xoxo, Richel V.

Aargh I feel you. Can’t keep up with blogging lately as well. Alam mo na, #buhayIT. :))

Good job on reading more than 50 books! I can’t even finish 10 in a year and it makes me sad because I really love reading. I used to be like you when I was younger. Ehem! But anyway, keep it up! Can’t wait to read about your adventures in South Korea.

Yay! I’m glad you’ve got your Korean visa. Congrats! You must be very excited by now. Yeah applying visa is super stressful and travel planning really does consume time but it’s all worth it though. Just like you I’ve been on a blog hiatus too for more than a month although I was able to squeeze one blog post about travel my recent travels before flying again. Travel on girl! 🙂

Currently on the next step of travel planning: making itinerary. It’s not as stressful as applying for a visa but it’s the one that needs a lot of effort, lol.

Yay for getting that visa approved! 😀 You’ll enjoy Korea!

And woot for all the reading you’ve been doing! I get like that, too, and start losing sleep because I can’t put the books down. Eep!

Happy blogiversary/birthday to you, by the way! I can’t believe you’ve only had this blog for a year. it feels much longer for some reason 😀

Thanks, Tara! <3 Any suggestions on what's a must when in Korea? 🙂

Thanks again! It definitely feels like I've been here for a lot longer than a year! It's crazy.

Insadong! Sinyetchatjib is a must. Love that Korean tea house. It’s also a good place to walk around for traditional Korean things.

Namdaemun Market for souvenirs and other shopping doodad. I recommend stopping by the huge Alpha store there for stationery and other art/craft supplies.

If you go to Namsan Tower, I recommend taking the buses that goes up there rather than the cable car which is so not worth it.

Namsan Park and Seoul Forest for nature-y things.

Cheonggyecheon Stream is a nice place to walk at night or day. Ditto for along the Han River.

National Museum of Korea — their permanent exhibition is free.

War Memorial of Korea if you’re a war history buff.

Myeong-dong which is like Takeshita-dori, but bigger and more maze-like. Good place to go cosmetic shopping and to buy street food.

Hongdae/Hapjeong/Sangsu area are also a must for cosmetic and food. Good cafes in the area, too.

Get a T-Money card which is usable in all buses and subways and some taxis.

Wow! I wish I can read books as fast as you can! I tend to slow down on my reading whenever I get attached to the story.. Hopefully I can get behind my reading backlogs! Been hoarding books for years now but haven’t got the chance to touch most of them! Any suggestions on what book to read?

The opposite happens to me! If I get really really into it, I push to finish in as fast as I can to get the whole story! What genre are you usually into, Vienna? 🙂

I’m usually into YA novels, doesn’t really matter if it’s romance, fantasy, etc. but sometimes I’m in the mood for the classics too!

Hi again, Richel! Unfortunately my blog is now non-existent. Haha! I used to be a beauty blogger back then. I *impulsively* deleted my blog since I kind of lost interest in all things beauty-related. 🙁 I would love to start a new blog, though! Perhaps a more personal, lifestyle-ish one if time permits. 🙂

Yes, I LEGIT enjoy reading your posts! That’s why I hope you post more often because your blog’s becoming my happy pill! 🙂
