2018 in a Nutshell

2018 in a Nutshell

In my head, I already have at least five different ways to start my 2018 year-end post. But now that I’m typing this post down, I can’t seem to remember any of it. Oh well, here’s to winging it and hoping for the best – which is basically the attitude I have all throughout 2018.

Looking back at my 2017 year-ender post (that was deleted cause I accidentally deleted my blog), I see that I settled. Unfortunately for me, that’s also what I feel like I was doing in 2018 for some portions of my life. BUT, I also strived in other aspects of my life which I will happily take and is one of my goals for this year. It’s a year of ups and middle grounds, but overall, I was happy this year. I’ve been consistently happy for the past years and that’s something I’m very grateful for. To commemorate that, I’ll be sharing some of my 2018 highlights.

Travelled to Japan – February

2018 in a Nutshell - Japan

I have been a fan of Japan for forever, but the fear of how expensive it seems like make me wary each time. BUT my friend and I finally took this trip and I don’t regret it one bit. It’s also my first time to experience winter and snow so that just made it more memorable. The food, oh man, worth every single penny. I’m surprised I didn’t gain any weight from this trip. Ahh. I can’t wait to blog about my whole trip for you guys to read. I cannot wait to come back.

One year with Milo – May

2018 in a Nutshell - Milo

It’s a surprise I haven’t blogged about my pupper yet – but if you follow me on Twitter and Instagram, I talk and post photos about him nonstop. It’s been more than a year now since we got him, and I can’t imagine going home and not having him waiting for me by the door. He has a bit of an attitude, but I love him so much.

(Kinda) Annual Summer Trip to Singapore – April

2018 in a Nutshell - Singapore

We headed to Singapore to spend summer with my dad. I stayed for a week while my brothers and my mom stayed for a little over a month. There’s always a new place we discover each visit and Singapore food never disappoints. As always, looking forward to come back and to try new food!

Got a new pink laptop! – June

If you knew me, you’d know I have wanted a Macbook for forever but it was just not practical. I ended up having the rose gold Asus zenbook. It exceeded my expectations and I’m sure I’ll be using this laptop for at least five years now. I loved the color and the weight, and I love its performance. I’m staying a Windows girl for laptops.

Sydney!!! – September

2018 in a Nutshell - Sydney

This is my first out of Asia trip, and oh man, I fell in love. It also helped a lot that my friend’s relative welcomed us so warmly into their home. I have nothing but good things to say about Sydney and I am giddy just thinking about it. I wish I had vlogged it but I was too shy to do so in front of my friend’s relatives hahaha.

Annyeong, Korea! – September

2018 in a Nutshell - Korea

Finally, my family and I are taking out of the country trips that is not to Singapore! We visited when autumn was just starting so it wasn’t cold as expected and the leaves weren’t red yet, but we had fun. They enjoyed the whole trip and I can’t wait for us to visit in a better month.

I have 20/12 vision!  – October

2018 in a Nutshell - Lasik

I finally took the plunge and had lasik surgery! Shoutout to my father for paying half of this huhu. It is expensive and scary as heck – I was thinking I could go blind if things go wrong! It was so worth it though. Gone are the days where I must bring my glasses along everywhere. Watch out for the full details on my next blog post. 😊

Tagaytay Staycation – December

This is becoming a yearly thing. We bought along my cousins and grandparents this time. It was also raining our entire stay, so it was really cold – which us kids love. It’s really the perfect weather to have a staycation, imo. My mother’s side of the family doesn’t get to do out of town trips with us often so it’s nice to spend some time like this with them.

Reputation Tour – December

I have been a huge fan of Taylor Swift for more than a decade now. I was super bummed that Reputation Tour didn’t have a Manila leg but being able to end 2018 with watching the concert in HD in our own living room is just a highlight I must add in here. I am living. PS. That ‘I Did Something Bad’ and ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together/ This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things’ performances? Iconic.

That’s it for 2018! If you’re reading until this part, thanks for sticking along. We might not have talked as much but I also lurk, I got you. Here’s to becoming better versions of ourselves and having lots of fun this 2019. Happy new year!

That’s it for now.

Ciao.

Ahahh I started writing my highlights of 2018 with an introductory paragraph, but halfway through writing my post, I went back to the introductory paragraph and completely rewrote it! I feel ya. ALSO I accidentally deleted my old blog a few weeks ago and was pretty sad not to have that record anymore, but I’m trying not to dwell on it because there’s nothing I can do about it now haha. (I started blogging September 2013 on Tumblr and was on there for about a year before I switched to Blogspot. I have my old Blogspot posts imported to my current WordPress, but I didn’t have my Tumblr imported to Blogspot, so those OG posts are gone noww) // These edits are so fun! Love! any travels I have always make my annual highlights, and I see that yours have made yours too! It has really made me realise how much more fulfilling it is to spend money on experiences rather than things. Unfortunately I can’t travel all day every day, but I hope to make more day trips (or even staycations) in 2019 🙂 // Milo is so freakin cute <3 // Happy New Year Richel! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

Same! What use in being sad for a long while if that won’t bring anything back? Haha.

Again, same! I think travelling made me happier than most material things. And they always made it to my highlights (and my blog) since looking back at it always make me smile. I can’t wait for my next travel.

      Happy 2019, Audrey!

Richel, I just found out you deleted your blog. O U C H. 🙁 I’m glad you’re not taking it too negatively. Were you able to get copies of your old blog posts? 2018 was a great year for you travel wise – visiting four countries! You have to tell me how you save up for these trips (and half of lasik). 😀 I hope 2019 will be better for you. More travels! <3

I was only able to save the ones that were cached by Google! But better have some than lost all of them haha. I’ll hopefully be able to publish some financial related content on the blog soon. I’m not an expert, but it’s still fun to write about and talk about haha. Thank you, Kat! Happy 2019!

It’s great that you took a trip to Japan. Traveling can be expensive but it’s worth the money if you go for the full experience. It’s exciting to see your pets grow! I like that you got to style your new laptop. It’s great that your father paid for half of your lasik surgery. Sounds like you had an exciting 2018! Hope 2019 will be even better.

Taking a break from travelling this year to do some reflecting. I’m hopeful that 2019 will be better, if not, just as good as 2018! *fingers crossed*

I saw your tweet about your blog! Sobrang sayang it was deleted. I used to visit your blog pa naman whenever I need some travel guides! Anyway, I’m glad your 2018 is full of travels! I want to travel din soon!! I also like to have a country that I can visit every year, ung babalik-balikan like what you’re doing in Singapore. Feels like another home aside from the Philippines, ganon.

Looking forward to your blog posts about your trip to Japan! ❤️

Medyo late yung greeting ko, but I hope you’ll have an awesome 2019 (and more travels too)!
